Construction Package

Working at Heights, Abrasive Wheels & Manual Handling: These three courses have been combined to save participants time and money.

All three courses can be completed in one day. The Working at Heights course is held in the morning along with the Abrasive and the Manual Handling is in the afternoon. These courses can also be attended separately as per our website.

Attendee Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course. Course participants should wear loose fitting comfortable clothing (trousers) and closed toe shoes. As this course is conducted through English any specific needs/requirements should be identified at time of booking.

Who Should Attend

This training is suitable for clients who are required to work at heights, using abrasive wheels and Manual Handling and will provide participants with the knowledge andskills to work safely as required in accordance with legislative requirements, particularly anyone who works in Construction.

Course Modules

Working at Heights:

Course covers the following:

  • Introduction
  • Legislation including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, Part 4 (Working at Heights)
  • Organization, Planning and Risk Assessments
  • Selection and inspection of work equipment
  • Fall prevention
  • Requirements for work platform
  • Openings / Edge protection
  • Roof Work / Fragile surfaces
  • Fall protection
  • Collective measures
  • Individual measures
  • Requirements for use of ladders
  • Ladder safety
  • Care and storage of ladders / Fall restraint
  • Fall arrest
  • Working at height hazard management.
  • Inspection of harnesses / lanyards / anchorage
  • Selection and fitting of a harness
  • Fall Dynamics
  • Logging & and maintenance of working at height equipment

Abrasive Wheels:

Course covers the following:

  • What & Why?
  • Legislation
  • Methods of marking
  • Inspecting, Handling, Storage & Transporting
  • Hazards, Risks and Controls
  • Components
  • Mounting, Dressing & Trueing & using abrasive wheels

Manual Handling:

Course covers the following:

  • Manual Handling Legislation
  • Anatomy of the Spine/Muscular system
  • Posture and Fitness
  • Manual Handling Risk Assessments
  • Manual Handling Principles and Techniques
  • Ergonomics
  • Protective Clothing and Footwear

 

Course Duration

Duration: 8am-5pm

Participants: 8

Venue: ECS Safety and Training

Assessment

On completion of the course you will receive a multiple-choice exam via email with a pass mark of 80% and a practical assessment of Safe Handling techniques for:

  • Working at Heights
  • Abrasives Wheels
  • Manual Handling

Demonstrated by Instructor followed by Student to receive a certificate of completion.

 

Accreditation

Participants who successfully complete this course will be awarded an ECS Safety and Training Certificate of Attendance & Competance by a Working at Heights, Abrasive Wheels Instructor and a Manual Handling Certtificate by a QQI Level 6 Instructor.

  • Working at Heights certificate valid for 2 years
  • Abrasive Wheels certificate valid for 3 years
  • Manual Handling certificate valid for 3 years

Safe Pass

Manual Handling Practical

Our Manual Handling Training course is taken once you have passed your theory course with ECS Safety & Training online. We will run through a series of different practicals which you will use in your workplace. All you have to do is enroll on your free practical assessment choosing your required date and time.

Once this is completed you will be sent your Zoom login link via email with all details relating to your practical assesment online during office hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm excluding bank holidays.

New Entrant – 360 Operator

The aim of this 3 day programme is to raise the standard of health and safety awareness by giving our ourse participants the knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them to operate the machine safely. This course will also help participants to comply with statutory requirements as outlined by SOLAS. on the machine – on completion of this training, the candidate will be issued with a provisional CSCS Card.
